After graduating and taking the California bar examination, Michael returned to the Twin Cities in 1993, where he began his law practice as a Minnesota Assistant Attorney General.
During Michael's six plus years with the Attorney General's Office, he was able to combine his interests in health care and the law. He represented a variety of health licensing boards, including the Board of Medical Practice, the Board of Nursing, the Board of Dentistry, and the Board of Psychology. In addition to providing general legal advice to the boards, Michael handled professional disciplinary cases dealing with incompetent care, chemical dependency and mental illness, sexual misconduct, and fraudulent billing. Michael gained substantial experience in litigation, mediation, professional firms, and privacy issues.
In addition to issues in health law, Michael handled a variety of other projects at the Attorney General's Office. Some of the areas in which Michael worked included complex employment litigation, appellate matters, and trial work for the Department of Public Safety. He represented non-health licensing boards, including serving as general counsel to the board that licenses police officers. Michael also served as chair of the office's Hate Crimes Prevention Team, one of the most active groups working on civil rights policy issues in the office.
In 2000 Michael realized one of his long-term goals by forming Weber Law Office, a law firm in which he is seeking to create a successful legal practice that provides high quality and responsive legal services.
Michael is a member of the American Bar Association, the Minnesota Bar Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association, the California Bar Association, Medical Alley, and the American Health Lawyers. Michael is admitted to practice law in the states of Minnesota and California and the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
Michael currently lives in Minneapolis, where he enjoys the city parks, at least during the warmer months.
